{"id":4233,"date":"2010-12-24T09:13:15","date_gmt":"2010-12-24T14:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=4233"},"modified":"2010-12-24T09:13:15","modified_gmt":"2010-12-24T14:13:15","slug":"christmas-reading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=4233","title":{"rendered":"Christmas reading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, the CRTC delivered its new <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/hQ1pjr\" target=\"_blank\">rules of procedure<\/a>, which can be considered to be a guidebook for participation in broadcasting and telecom regulatory processes [<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/f198pc\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a>, full <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/hQ1pjr\" target=\"_blank\">ruling<\/a>]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In recognition of the significant changes in the industries it regulates and in the technology available to conduct its proceedings, the Commission initiated a public proceeding to establish the new\u00a0<em>Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Rules of Practice and Procedure<\/em>\u00a0(the Rules of Procedure).\u00a0The objectives of the Rules of Procedure are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>enable informed and effective public participation in Commission proceedings;<\/li>\n<li>ensure the efficient, transparent and predictable conduct of Commission proceedings;<\/li>\n<li>eliminate unnecessary costs and delays in the regulatory process; and<\/li>\n<li>provide a comprehensive set of rules applicable in most Commission proceedings, while maintaining the flexibility necessary to address the specific circumstances of each proceeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/hQ1pjr\" target=\"_blank\">detailed manual<\/a> is a readable, step-by-step guide to participation in regulatory proceedings.\u00a0As you assemble various toys over the holidays, think of the instruction manuals.
