{"id":4204,"date":"2010-12-09T06:30:31","date_gmt":"2010-12-09T11:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=4204"},"modified":"2010-12-08T19:11:42","modified_gmt":"2010-12-09T00:11:42","slug":"bucking-the-trend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=4204","title":{"rendered":"Bucking the trend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Videotron\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gstconferences.com\/gst\/logos\/sponsors_272_videotron.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"33\" \/>Videotron continues to demonstrate tremendous market strength in all sectors of the communications industry.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/eZUDXA\" target=\"_blank\">news release<\/a> issued late on Wednesday, Videotron is growing strongly, offering a counter example to recent stories about\u00a0cord cutters in the cable industry [see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/globe-investor\/investment-ideas\/features\/vox\/the-grassroots-threat-to-cable-tv-revenue\/article1809414\/\" target=\"_blank\">Globe story<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espnmediazone3.com\/us\/2010\/12\/study-on-cord-cutting\/\" target=\"_blank\">ESPN views<\/a> on other side].\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Videotron saw almost 7,000 new subscribers to its basic cable in the past two months, with an increase of 22,500 digital TV subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>Its customer count for high speed internet services grew by 1% to 1.25M in that same 2 month period. It also added 1% to its 1.1M cable-based digital phone subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>Having launched its HSPA+ wireless network in early September, Videotron is adding customers at a pace of close to 1000 per day, with about 75,000 customers already.<\/p>\n<p>Videotron&#8217;s CEO, Robert Depatie will be returning to <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/cts11\" target=\"_blank\">The 2011 Canadian Telecom Summit<\/a>, talking about his approach to customer focus throughout the organization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Videotron continues to demonstrate tremendous market strength in all sectors of the communications industry.
