{"id":211,"date":"2009-06-09T07:11:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-09T07:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=211"},"modified":"2009-06-09T07:11:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-09T07:11:00","slug":"atts-5-year-universal-broadband-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=211","title":{"rendered":"AT&amp;T&#8217;s 5-year universal broadband target"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin: 0pt 4px 10pt 0pt; padding: 0pt; float: left; color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-size: 66px;\">100%<\/div>\n<p>In a filing to the Federal Communications Commission released late on Monday, AT&T; <a href=\"http:\/\/ca.news.finance.yahoo.com\/s\/08062009\/31\/link-f-prnewswire-t-backs-100-percent-broadband-2014.html\">set a target<\/a> for 100 percent broadband availability in the United States by 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Included in the plan are some points that caught my eye, including a recognition that work needs to be done on the demand side. <\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(102, 102, 102); text-align: justify;font-size:85%;\"><p>of those that do have access, nearly half of them do not purchase it for a range of reasons, including lack of necessary Internet-enabled devices, affordability issues and relevancy.
