On November 18 at 9:30 AM (Eastern), the International Telecommunications Society (ITS) and the Munk School of Global Affairs &#038; Public Policy (University of Toronto) will host a free webinar: <a href=\"https:\/\/itsworld.org\/events\/co-intelligence-living-and-working-with-ai-webinar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI<\/a> with Ethan Mollick.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What if the most important technology of recent times doesn\u2019t deliver productivity on its own? <\/li>\n<li>What if your smartest colleague never slept, never stopped learning, and could work across every domain you know\u2014and many you don\u2019t? <\/li>\n<li>What if AI isn\u2019t just a tool, but a partner in your thinking?<\/li>\n<li>A coach for your creativity?<\/li>\n<li>A strategist for your work?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the surface, the promise of AI seems obvious, like electricity, the internet, or computers. But, we can learn from history that general-purpose technologies yield gains only when paired with new skills, new institutional arrangements, and new ways of thinking and behaving. <\/p>\n<p>That is the productivity paradox: adoption alone does not guarantee progress.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Ethan Mollick reframes the challenge for us: while AI may not soon outcompete humans, people using AI are already outcompeting people. This is the essence of co-intelligence: treating AI less as a tool and more as a collaborator \u2014 an idea with profound implications for leadership, competitiveness, productivity, and progress.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mgmt.wharton.upenn.edu\/profile\/emollick\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ethan Mollick<\/a> is the Ralph J. Roberts Distinguished Faculty Scholar at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wharton.upenn.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wharton<\/a>. He was named one of <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7012859\/ethan-mollick\/\" target=\"_blank\">TIME\u2019s most influential people in AI<\/a>. His book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/Co-Intelligence-Living-Working-Ethan-Mollick\/dp\/059371671X\" target=\"_blank\">Co-Intelligence<\/a> was a New York Times bestseller and a \u201cbest of the year\u201d from The Economist and Financial Times, and his substack, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oneusefulthing.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">One Useful Thing<\/a>, is among the best resources to learn how to think with AI.<\/p>\n<p>The deeper questions to be explored are human, not technical: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What new forms of oversight and trust are required when intelligence is shared? <\/li>\n<li>How should leaders measure productivity when creativity itself is augmented? <\/li>\n<li>And, how do we ensure this paradox becomes promise, not missed opportunity?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I have been a <a href=\"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?s=%22telecommunications+society%22\" target=\"_blank\">fan of the webinars<\/a> hosted by the International Telecommunications Society over the past few years.
