He rightfully acknowledges the interesting exception in Western Canada where Inukshuk&#8217;s infrastructure allows Bell and Rogers to become two new alternatives to Shaw and TELUS.<\/p>\n<p>It all just doesn&#8217;t seem to hold up to the dream that was announced by Inukshuk&#8217;s founding shareholders Allstream, Microcell and NR Communications back in November 2003. At that time, John McLennan said: <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size:85%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(102, 102, 102);\">This venture is very exciting and is part of Allstream&#8217;s strategy to utilize disruptive technologies, as we continually look for new ways to serve our customers better and expand our addressable markets<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p> The excitement for that strategy didn&#8217;t seem last very long. Only a few months later, Allstream merged with MTS and shed Inukshuk. When the CRTC and the TPR panel have been continuing to drive a facilities-based competition policy, Allstream&#8217;s sale of its interest in Inukshuk appears to be one a major miss.<\/p>\n<p>Is there a market for pure roaming internet? We&#8217;ll see how <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newswire.ca\/en\/releases\/archive\/March2006\/31\/c1056.html\">Sympatico Unplugged<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/micro.newswire.ca\/release.cgi?rkey=1403317524&amp;view=84735-0\">Rogers Portable Internet<\/a> play out.
