{"id":1370,"date":"2006-07-06T06:15:00","date_gmt":"2006-07-06T06:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=1370"},"modified":"2017-01-25T22:56:24","modified_gmt":"2017-01-26T03:56:24","slug":"tvu-networks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=1370","title":{"rendered":"TVU Networks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alex, my research associate discovered an interesting site based out of China called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvunetworks.com\">TVU Networks<\/a> that promises to be releasing a broadband video distribution service in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Current offerings include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hboasia.com\/hbo\/schedule\">HBO Asia<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywood.com.tw\/\">Hollywood film channel<\/a> from Taiwan as well as a number of Chinese stations.<\/p>\n<p>TVU? It is a peer-to-peer application with a specialized streaming video player, delivering live channels over the internet.<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of application that should help our understanding of a number of issues for new media. Look back at <a href=\"https:\/\/mhgoldberg.com\/blog\/?p=1493\">our comments<\/a> on the CRTC&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crtc.gc.ca\/archive\/ENG\/Notices\/2006\/pb2006-47.htm\">Mobile TV Decision<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Implications on broadband access networks and broadcasters?<\/p>\n<p>This may also increase sensitivities in respect of net non-neutrality behaviour by cable companies acting as broadband internet service providers.
