There is an opportunity to look at privacy issues in depth, coming in October.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.privacylaws.com\/pdfs\/epon\/ipon&amp;epon.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; margin: 10px; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.privacylaws.com\/Images\/ipon&amp;epon.jpg\" alt=\"IPON\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The International Privacy Officers Network (IPON) is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.privacylaws.com\/specialistgroups.ipon.html\">meeting in Toronto<\/a> on October 17 to discuss &#8220;<em>Canada&#8217;s Unique Privacy Challenges: Employment, Outsourcing, Federal-Provincial Jurisdictional Issues<\/em>&#8220;. The meeting is taking place a day before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.privacyassociation.org\/\">International Association of Privacy Professionals<\/a> holds its 6th annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.privacyassociation.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=55&amp;Itemid=138\">Privacy Academy<\/a> conference.<\/p>\n<p>The IPON session is being run by our good friends at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.privacylaws.com\/\">Privacy Laws and Business<\/a>, a consultancy of specialists headed by Stewart Dresner. Stewart has been a leader in privacy matters for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>By attending this one day event, you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn the most important things you need to know about how privacy issues are regulated in Canada;<\/li>\n<li>Understand how the private sector is impacted both in the provinces which have specific private sector privacy laws (Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec) and those which do not;<\/li>\n<li>Focus on the specific issues IPON members have told us they most need to grapple with, including employment issues and outsourcing;<\/li>\n<li>Exchange experience with your peers on how you and they manage compliance with privacy laws in Canada;<\/li>\n<li>Have an opportunity to make timely recommendations to the federal legislature\u2019s review of the private sector law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We plan to attend.
